About Us

KC Select Women's Lacrosse Club is open to all adult women lacrosse players in the Kansas City (Missouri and Kansas) area.

Our team players range from beginners to old-timers - a love of the sport is all that is required (well, a stick, mouthguard, eye gear, cleats, and a membership in US Lacrosse too).  The Club was founded in 2006 and slowly growing as the word gets out.

If you live in the Kansas City area and are a seasoned player, or just heard about the sport and want to give it a try - contact us to find out when practices are held.  If you're still in high school, check out the KC Girls Lacrosse Club .

About women's lacrosse

Women's lacrosse is called the "thinking women's game." The sport as a whole is called "the fastest game on two feet."  Lacrosse blends speed, fluid motion, and dedicated teamwork.

The sport of lacrosse is played on a flat, grassy field. There are 12 players per team (11 field players and one goalie). The objective of the game is to get the ball into the opponent's goal more often than the other team. Each player has a lacrosse stick. The ball is made of solid rubber and slightly smaller than a tennis ball.

Lacrosse originated in Native American culture.  In the 1890's it was introduced to girls in the Scottish prep school St. Leonards. Rosalind Sinclair, a graduate, brought the game of girls lacrosse to Bryn Mawr School in Baltimore in 1926.  For more about the sport of lacrosse, see the US Lacrosse web pages.
