Team practice time change

Practices times have been moved to Sunday mornings from 10-11:30am at the same location (Indian Woods Middle School, Overland Park, KS).

Promote lacrosse at the October 5th Wizards Game!

From 5-7 pm, local lacrosse teams will demo lacrosse and have informational booths available to promote the sport in the Kansas City area. Come on out and bring your stick! The Wizards are playing DC United - it should be a great game. Wizards games are held at Arrowhead Stadium

KC Select participated in the KU Fall Playday in Lawrence, KS. We played the KU team and ended short due to lightning. Soon after we played Washington University in the rain. It was great to get out move, and play together as a team - many of us for the first time. Thanks to the Kansas City Girls Lacrosse club (HS team) for filling out our roster and providing much-needed wheels!

Potential schedule:

September 15: Kansas Invitational at Lawrence, Kansas.
October 20: Arkansas Playday at Fayetteville, Arkansas. ~6hrs away -
overnight trip

Nov 3: KU alumni game (anybody is invited to play) Lawrence, KS
November 17: Oklahoma State Fall Invitational at Stillwater,
Oklahoma. ~5hrs away - overnight trip.

Girls lacrosse clinic, week of July 9th

What: Clinic to introduce girls in grades 3 - 8 to the sport of lacrosse, taught by KC Girls Lacrosse team coaches.

Where: St. Pauls School, Kansas City, MO

When: 9:00am - 12:oopm

What to bring: lacrosse stick, goggles, mouthguard. A limited number of loaner sticks will be available.

Where: Indian Woods Middle School (9700 Woodsen, Overland Park, KS)

What to bring: lacrosse stick, goggles, cleats, a friend who wants to learn how to play.

Extra sticks will be available to lend to new players.

KC Storm Football exhibition game

On June 2nd, the Flying Monkeys joined us in a half-time exhibition game at the KC Storm football game against Baton Rouge. We ended it with a shoot-out contest.

It was lot's of fun - a big THANKS to KC Storm for inviting us. Did anyone get a picture we can share here?

Camp WIN for Women, May 11, 2007

KC Sports Commission's 1st Annual Camp WIN for Women had 50 participants who had a blast learning to play women's lacrosse! Joe, Jessie, and Lydia had 45 minutes to introduce lacrosse and give a feel for how much fun it is to play.

Tuesday night pick-up games

Carol Cintra, head coach of KC Girls Lacrosse, is hosting summer pick-up games for girls and women. Sponsored by ESB Lacrosse .

Pick-Up Tuesdays are open to everybody in Grades 6-12 (for the 2007-08 school year): both veteran players and potential players who are considering picking up a stick for the first time.

Where: Indian Woods Middle School, 9700 Woodson (on 97th between Metcalf and Nall)

When: Tuesdays, 6:00 - 7:00pm, June 12th through August 7th (no play July 3rd).

What to bring: A girl's lacrosse stick, lacrosse goggles, and mouth guard are required.

Cost: $50. (8 sessions)

Note: Our field time is in conjunction with the Boys' Varsity Division league, so the Rockhurst players will be on the field next to us.
